How does editing work?
There are three basic types of editing and proofreading services.
- Developmental editing is needed once you have finished a first draft of your work and need a fresh pair of eyes to look for ways to improve organisation and coherence.
- Copy editing involves a close reading of the text itself with editorial suggestions, enhancements to sentence construction, and checking references.
- Proofreading is the final stage, once your writing is in good shape and ready to be polished. I work in Word and will give you fully tracked changes and a clean version of your final document.
I will work closely with you to go through the stages depending on your needs. Well written documents will probably only need the proofreading stage, while if you’re at the beginning of a project you may also want to benefit from more input to the structure, organisation, and idiom included in the Gold service.

Bronze: Proofreading

For a well written document
I check your finished text for spelling, grammar, typographical errors and consistency. Your well-crafted writing will still benefit from a polish! This is a one-version service.
Silver: Copy Editing and Proofreading
£0.05
per word
The most popular service
In addition to and prior to Bronze, I review your writing for clarity, make editorial suggestions, improve sentence construction, and check accuracy of cross-references to figures and tables. We’ll go through one revision together.
Gold: Full Editing Service
£0.08
per word
Where more support is needed
In addition to Bronze and Silver and prior to both, I also provide detailed developmental editing support for English style and idiom, suitable for those at the start of a writing project, non-native speakers or those with greater support needs. With this package you’ll have several versions of your document, with input and discussion.
You can select one of the above options without the others, and prices are adjusted accordingly. Discounts are available for re-editing up to 365 days after initial completion. Deadlines will be negotiated depending on volume of work prior to acceptance.
